Morten.B.Vendelbo in Denmark receives his new crook from his wife Vivi.
Congratulations on your wedding from Wren Country Sticks.
Hallo and welcome.
Its been almost two years since we started Wren Country Sticks and what an enjoyable time its been.
We have made lots of new friends through the business and rekindled some old friendships.
Our aim was to produce and offer for sale shepherds crooks and walking sticks of distinction, and I think we have achieved our aim quite well.
Early on we decided to sponsor Tony Ottesen of Denmark, a well known and respected sheepdog trialer. The crook we made for Tony was dedicated to his dog Tweed and has lead to many other orders from across Europe.
In fact as we approach the World sheepdog trials 2008, we are looking forward to meeting some of our customers and World Championship competitors. These include not only Tony Ottesen, but also Luca Finni from Italy, Gunther Breugelmans from Belgium and others.
We also hope to have a crook made ready for Harry Janssens to use at the Continental sheepdog trials August 2008. So its all hands to the pumps for this one.
After sponsoring Tony we looked for a trialer closer to home to sponsor and became reacquainted with James Gilman and his family, who we had known from our visits to the Harden Moss trials. James has had some considerable succes recently and it was a pleasure to help support him with a sponsorship crook.
As James runs brace, the crook had to reflect this and we created a rams horn crook with a brace of border collies on the nose. Another first for us, but this was our initial aim, to make crooks that were distinctive and very personal to the owner.
Making our crooks personal and distinctive lead to us offering a service that no other crook maker offers to my knowledge. That of a painting a handlers favourite dog on a commissioned crook. It started with Tonys Taff and now almost every crook I make will have the owner name engraved on one side and a portrait of this dog on the other.
In the near future our website will offer the budding stick maker most of the materials he will need to make his own crook or walking stick. Added to this expansion of the website facilities we will also be offering customers a gifts idea section. This will take a little time to build and and launch as all our concentration is on fullfilling the every growing number of orders for crooks.
One last comment. If you are considering ordering a crook as a Christmas present then book as early as October. Last year we had a few customers who had ordered a little late in December and would not have received their crooks till January. We get very busy for Christmas, so considering the time it takes to make a crook allow plenty of time to avoid disapointment.
Thanks for taking the time to read this. Please enjoy the rest of the site.
Cheers Joe.
